Tracie is a foster parent and child welfare advocate whose commitment to Keeping Kids SAFE is grounded in both lived experience and a belief that family preservation and child safety should go hand in hand.
Through foster care, she has witnessed the impact of trauma, the importance of meaningful support for families, and the hope that successful reunification can bring. Her own childhood also shaped her perspective. Growing up with divorced parents and experiencing financial and family challenges taught her that hardship alone does not make a home unsafe. What mattered most was that, even during difficult times, her parents prioritized their children and worked to provide a home rooted in love, stability, and safety.
Those experiences guide her advocacy today: families deserve support, accountability, and opportunities for healing—but children deserve timely outcomes. Childhood is short, and children should not spend it waiting for the adults around them to become safe. Every child deserves decisions that protect their safety, preserve their innocence, and provide the stability and permanency they need to grow and thrive.
Tristan is a fierce and compassionate advocate for children and families, grounded in her deep belief that every child deserves both safety and love. Having fostered more than a dozen children and served as a 1624 Representative, she brings a powerful voice shaped by lived experience. When she saw policies that failed to protect children, Tristan refused to stay silent. Now, she speaks out with courage and conviction—working to build a system where every child is protected, every family is supported, and every voice is heard.
Kristina brings more than 20 years of experience with the child welfare system from multiple perspectives, including visit supervision, service as a CASA, adoptive parenting, and her professional work as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor supporting children and families through combined in-home services. She has also served as a 1624 representative, helping strengthen communication and understanding between foster parents and DCYF.
Through her work alongside children and families in their homes, Kristina has witnessed firsthand the profound consequences that can occur when children are not adequately protected. These experiences have strengthened her commitment to bringing both professional expertise and lived experience to the child welfare conversation.
Kristina advocates for practices that support families while ensuring that children’s safety, well-being, and need for protection remain at the center of every decision.
Amy’s commitment to protecting children began through years of working in childcare, where she witnessed the lasting effects abuse and neglect can have on a child’s life. Her desire to make a difference deepened after supporting one child whose experience had a profound impact on her.
Nine years ago, Amy became a licensed foster parent and went on to welcome 15 children into her home, eventually adopting her youngest daughter. Her daughter’s case involved severe circumstances, but circumstances Amy came to understand were far from uncommon within the child welfare system.
Amy ultimately chose to relinquish her foster care license so she could dedicate herself more fully to advocating for and supporting vulnerable children. Today, she brings those experiences to Keeping Kids SAFE with a commitment to helping children find safety, stability, hope, and the opportunity for a brighter future.
Angela brings a deeply personal perspective to child welfare advocacy through her own lived experience with the child welfare system, which began before she was born. She was exposed in utero to high-potency synthetic opioids (HPSO) and experienced CPS involvement early in life. Those experiences shaped her childhood and ultimately helped shape the person and advocate she is today.
More than 18 years ago, Angela became a Family Time Visit Provider with a desire to make a meaningful difference for children and families. Through her work, she has sought to demonstrate that change is possible, cycles can be broken, and healing and stability are within reach.
Angela’s work is grounded in the belief that a family’s past does not have to determine its future. With meaningful support, accountability, and a commitment to change, families can write a new story—and children can grow up safe, supported, and hopeful about what comes next.
Sarah is a child welfare advocate and community mental health professional whose passion for protecting children is shaped by both professional and lived experience.
After walking alongside children in her own family through Washington’s child welfare system, Sarah turned difficult experiences into a commitment to advocacy and reform. Her work supporting children and families with complex behavioral health needs has strengthened her belief in child-centered policies, system accountability, and meaningful collaboration.
As a member of Keeping Kids SAFE, Sarah is committed to ensuring children are seen, heard, and protected—and that families advocating for a child’s safety never feel they are fighting alone.
